Robot!

Robot!

I've been involved as a mentor for my local FIRST robotics team since the fall of 2023. What started as a way to spend time with my son turned into a way to make a difference in my community.

I have a strong desire to see technology and manufacturing grow in our communities. FTC and FRC teaches kids to not only design, but to build. Then, to really reinforce it, they have to repair the robot. These kids become more than idea people, but doers.

Taking a role as a mentor has led to a lot of self reflection about my impact on the community and the team. I have skills and insights that can help others flourish and grow, I'm also surrounded by people who inspire me, challenge me to learn more, and to be a better person.

Roles

My chief role is mentoring OnShape and helping with mechanical design. Beyond that I assist in strategy, wiring, manufacturing, and code. I also help turn problems into processes to streamline our build time.

Sponsors!

You too, can help build robots.

Robot is expensive. Our budget is roughly $50,000 a year. This covers build expenses for two FRC robots, two FTC robots, travel to competitions, as well as community outreach efforts.

We are 100% self funded, the school district provides nothing except the space we are in. Our team members work at community events to earn money, sell bratwurst at the park, host a golf scramble, and a bingo tent at the State Fair. If you're interested in a corporate sponsorship please reach out.
